When I first found out that we were doing, or better yet when I first saw the flier on the wall saying, Rumors Auditions, see Mrs. Niemi for play materials I literally dashed to her classroom without even giving it a second thought. All that was going through my mind was, this is my chance! Because I had been wanting to act in one of the school plays since freshman year. I would have but was not allowed and probably will never ever be able to again, { atlease not until college.} I got that scrip before third hour and had it read by sixth, because it was so funny. That day after school, I called my grandma and asked her if I could try out for the play, My Fair Lady (long story) well anyway, after a drawn out discussion on me needing to be home to learn how to be LADY she finally gave me the okay so I went into the LGI, and pretty much gave my all. In the end, I wanted a part more than anything, I didnt even care if I got the part as Officer Pudney, I just wanted a part; ANY part! Well I guess you can guess how this story ends! After two days of waiting, the cast list went up, and my name wasnt on it! I didnt get a part. Now I'll admitt I was a little mad at first, so yea, I asked Mrs. Niemi if the list had went up, (even though I already knew) only because I knew she tell me why I didnt get a part, w/o me actually asking her why. Apparently my schedule was too hectic and she need actors who could be there everyday [how ironic]. Then she offered me the part of student director and at first I turned it down, but then I took it only because I REALLY wanted to be a part of the play, whether or not I was an actor, though being an actor would have been my first choice.
I've always been interested in the fine arts, more or less, minus singing because I cant sing a lick. Not only is my voice extremely low for a girl, but I'm also tone deaf...JK, I play an instrument (not well though) so obviously I'm not tone deaf, I just cant sing! But I've always like the idea of either acting in a play or playing in the pit of a huge musical. But I never really thought I was a good actor, despite the fact that I had acted before. You know that saying, those who cant do, teach? well in my case it was those who can act, write! I adopted play writing for a couple years, but I decided that before I graduated from High School I wanted to be apart of one of the school plays. In this whole production process I rediscovered my love for theatre and that I'm some what of a decent actor.
I've had so much fun working on RUMORS with everyone. I've met so many new people, more than half of them will be graduating this year, which sucks. I can remember the first day I walked on stage and met everyone minus Warren, Jen, and Grant of course. I wasnt sure if any of them would like me, actually I'm still not sure! Haha, but I'm glad I met them all and we've all become friends. Jen I'm gonna miss our daily discussions about how to correctly drink vodka. Ash, I'm gonna miss you always messing with me then smiling to hint to me that u were just joking! Andy, I'm gonna miss our crazy car rides. Dominick I'm gonna miss you and your wacky but stylish sense of humor (ya freak!). I have no regrets. When this is all said and done and everyone leaves the stage having done great show and we're all sitting at home with nothing to do instead of at school on stage joking around, reciting the same lines and doing the same stunts over and over again, we'll think to ourselves, "Man, that was the ultimate chutzpah!" My only wish is that I will be able to do it all over again next year.
