For the past couple of weeks, all of our messages and sunday school lessons have had to do with purpose. Believe it or not, there is more to being holy than just praise and worship. Okay, you're saved...GREAT! But what's next? (Ecc. 12:13)
From the day you were put in your mother's womb, there was a blueprint instilled in your heart and a plan in your soul. That plan is your purpose. Accepting God into your life was the first step to fulfilling that purpose. The next is to be determined by only God and you. (Galations 2:20)
It wasnt until recently that I discovered my purpose. Before then, I figured I was one who simply had none. I was just here. Hearing about how others endured trials and tribulations to fulfill their purposes, I didnt want one. However, I never knew that I, too, had been enduring since the day I was born. The Lord spoke to me and and told me my purpose.
I suppose its safe to say that I'm not exactly what you would consider 'normal'. For whatever reason, however, people were drawn to me, weird people. I always believed that my creepiness was my downfall. It turned out to be my uprising. God told me, "You think you're cursed but really, you're blessed. I made you 'weird'. You wonder why you do not fear certain people. Why people who supposedly do not believe in me are drawn to you. They are drawn to you so you can bring them back to me."
That piece of information, though it made much sense, was a scary thought. What would I have to endure to bring those souls back to christ? Or maybe I had already endured it without even knowing it. I would soon find out. (II Timothy 3: 10-11)
We tend to hear alot of what people in the bible went through to fulfill their purposes. Even if sometimes that purpose that God has in store for you may make no sense whatsoever. Take Moses for example (since he's been the subject of the last three sunday school lessons). We all know that his ultimate purpose was to free Israel. However, the way it actually happened might not have been what Moses had in mind.
I imagine that it was discouraging for him to know that God told him to go tell Pharaoh to free the people but he was hardening his heart in the process. Instead of freeing them he made their labor worse and deprived them of straw toward their production of brick.
God does not bring us out right away, but when he does, he does it with a strong and mighty hand (Romans 8:28). He performed his work through Moses. That was Moses' purpose.
The Lord is high and mighty. He has a purpose for every last one of us. But it is up to us as a people to seek him for that purpose. Again, this is just me sharing some thoughts that have been rolling around in my mind. Nothing special, just Jessica. Be Blessed and Peace Easy.
"I never dreamed that someone could see back through who I was into all I could be. Only His love could make me believe I could be so much more than me."
